Countries Exempted from Costa Rica Visa

Citizens holding valid passports from the following countries are permitted to stay in Costa Rica for 90 days without a visa:

European Union / EFTA (1),(2)	Israel	Serbia
Andorra	Japan	Singapore
Argentina	Mexico	South Africa
Australia	Monaco	South Korea
Bahamas	Montenegro	Trinidad and Tobago
Barbados	New Zealand	United States (3)
Brazil	Panama	Vatican City
Canada	Paraguay	Uruguay
Chile	San Marino

1 – Including British Overseas Territories citizens
2 – Including Non-citizens of Latvia
3 – 30 days if issued in Northern Mariana Islands

Citizens holding valid passports from the following countries are exempt from all visa requirements for stays of 30 days in Costa Rica, though once inside the country, they can apply for extension from the Immigration office, for an authorized period of stay of 90 days:

Belize	Marshall Islands	Sao Tome and Principe
Bolivia	Mauritius	Seychelles
Dominica	Micronesia	Solomon Islands
El Salvador	Nauru	Suriname
Fiji	Palau	Tonga
Grenada	Philippines	Turkey
Guatemala	Russia	Tuvalu
Guyana	Saint Kitts and Nevis	Vanuatu
Honduras	Saint Lucia	Venezuela
Kiribati	Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Holders of diplomatic or service/official passports of China, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Morocco, Peru and Thailand do not require a visa.

Citizens of all countries not listed above are required a visa from a Costa Rican embassy or consulate before traveling.
