Travelling from the UK to Jersey
British or European passport / identity card holders
There are no immigration controls between the United Kingdom (UK) and Jersey. You don’t need to carry your passport or identity card for immigration purposes.
However, you should bring photo ID as Customs and Immigration, police officers or airlines and ferry companies may ask to see it. Check with airlines and ferry companies to see which form of photo ID they’ll accept.
Non-EU passport / identity card holders
As long as you’re legally in the UK and will be travelling according to your immigration permissions, you won’t need a separate visa to travel to Jersey.
As there aren’t any immigration controls between Jersey and the UK, you don’t need to see an immigration officer when you arrive in Jersey.
You should carry photo ID and it might also be useful for you to bring a letter from the Home Office confirming your residential status in the UK.
Travelling from abroad to Jersey
British or European passport / identity card holders
All British citizens must show a valid British passport to immigration control on arrival in Jersey.
All European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) nationals must show a valid passport or identity card to immigration control on arrival in Jersey.
You don’t need a visa if you’re an EU or EEA national.
Non-EU passport holders
All non-European and non-EEA nationals who arrive from abroad must show a valid passport to immigration control on arrival in Jersey.
If you want to come to Jersey to visit, study, work or settle, you must meet certain requirements which can be found in the Jersey Immigration Rules.
You may need a visa depending on your nationality. The Jersey visa requirements are aligned to the UK visa requirements. You may be refused entry to Jersey if you don’t have the necessary visa. This applies to all passengers regardless of age:
